If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know I’m a bit of a fashionista and have an awesome collection of coats and shoes – Cavalli, Gucci, Galliano and CoSTUME NATIONAL being my fav’s . In fact I’ve had a couple of struts on the catwalk too, albeit I almost fell off the end which was rather embarrassing in front of 500 people. Anyway I’m all for fashion meeting Portfolio management which is why my heart was warmed this week.
I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again – that when I was starting to write the first version of Management of Portfolios (MoP) hardly anyone was interested. Fast forward 7 or so years and this week I saw this job advertised by Burberry (funnily enough I’m wearing my Burberry trousers as I write this) – the advert was for Interim Director of Portfolio Office.
This made me very happy, the fashion calendar is a continuous treadmill of delivery and fashion is one of the most competitive markets out there so the fact that portfolio management is being used just shows how important it is to changing effectively and delivering new products to market. However, the thing that made me super-duper happy was the first line of the person spec which stated “Portfolio Management certification (MoP or equivalent)”.
I wonder if this break into fashion will mean better styling for MoP Practitioners… I hope so! A fashion show of MoP Practitioners – now there’s an interesting thought!
