What areas of portfolio management provide you with most value?
Transparency – Portfolio categorisation is the first step to connecting your organisations strategy to the portfolio of change projects. Doing this creates great insights and once implemented it is simple to maintain and continuously provide insightful delivery information about the portfolio.
What are your biggest challenges with portfolio management?
The side effects of transparency – The insights can be painful as they can challenge existing beliefs or even be perceived as a threat.
How are you overcoming those challenges?
Be patient, provide fact based methodology and logical approaches. An executive sponsor clearly helps.
What are your top tips?
Implement step by step and let the organisation experience and own every new portfolio “trick” before the next step is implemented.
Never ever give up, sustainably establishing portfolio management is more of a marathon, rather than a sprint.
